Colt Group has won the prestigious RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) Gold Award for Occupational Health and Safety for the third year running.

Earlier in 2007 Colt Service received accreditation from Det Norske Veritas for the ISO 14001 environmental standard, recognising its very high standards of environmental, health and safety practice working on customers' sites. Colt International has already had the ISO 14001 standard for a number of years.

The Gold Award was presented at a special ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, National Exhibition Centre on Tuesday May 22 during Safety & Health Expo 2007, the UK's premier Health and Safety at Work exhibition.

The RoSPA Occupational Health & Safety Awards 2007 are sponsored by NEBOSH (The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health), the leading health and safety professional examining body.

David Rawlins, RoSPA Awards Manager, said "Colt has demonstrated how seriously it takes health and safety management and is a fine example to many other companies. We would like to see more organisations following their lead by providing a positive example".

The RoSPA Awards are not just about reducing the number of accidents and cases of ill-health at work; they are also about ensuring that organisations have good health and safety management systems in place. They help to reinforce the message that good health and safety is good business and clearly demonstrate an organisation's commitment to the achievement of high levels of performance in this crucial area.

The award was presented to Colt's Colin Denman by Terry Escott, RoSPA Board Member.
