This newly developed shopping centre in the heart of Portsmouth is situated right on the harbour's edge. In keeping with the local environment of natural sea air and sea views, Gunwharf Quays is largely open planned and open to the elements.

Within the covered area, the North arcade includes a single pitch glass roof curved on plan and a series of interconnecting single and double pitched roofs on the East and West arcades.

Colt Seefire ventilators were installed into the glazing with fixed glass smoke curtains for compartmentation to protect the occupants in the event of a fire. The Seefire ventilators also provide natural ventilation in the summer months which is required due to the extensive use of glazing.

Glass walkways projecting out from the shop front protect customers from rain along with glass canopies over the main escalators which lead to the underground carpark.
