Cosmotron Rooflight System
Cosmotron is a barrel vault rooflight system. Since polycarbonate has a high insulation value, the costs of running a building are reduced.
Cosmotron rooflights may also incorporate Colt natural ventilation and solar shading products to provide a complete turnkey package.
Cosmotron consists of structurally loadable extruded aluminium profiles of the alloy 6063 T6.
Over any length, it is possible to span roof openings from 1.50 metres up to 5.70 metres. The standard arrangement is always 1/5 of the span, but other alternatives are available on request.
It can be installed both parallel to the ridge, and following the line of the roof pitch. Old-fashioned lantern lights or yellowed light-admitting plastic sheeting can easily be replaced at minimum expense by a Cosmotron rooflight system.
The transparent Cosmotron polycarbonate elements are available as clear or opaque, twin- or four-wall double cavity panels. In the case of roof openings up to 2.00 metres, there is a choice of twin-wall version with 6mm light-admitting element or the four-wall version.
With roof opening widths above 2.00 metres and up to 3.70 metres, an alternative twin-wall version with 10mm light-admitting element is possible. From 3.70 metres up to 5.70 metres, a 16mm thick double-cavity panel is used.
All light-admitting panels are inserted in the glazing bars without the use of screw fastenings. The system is thermally broken thereby practically eliminating cold bridging.
Expansion of the various materials is readily taken up by the special nature of the design. The light-admitting panels are hailstone-resistant in accordance with SAI Standard 280 and are protected against UV degradation. This means maximum impact resistance and light stability.
The 3.5mm, 6mm, 10mm and 16mm thick web double panels are rated class I in accordance with BS476 part 7 or class 0 in accordance with the building regulations 1991.
Since it is free from any cold bridges, Cosmotron meets the most stringent requirements for thermal insulation and energy conservation. Installation of the Cosmotron rooflight system involves a simple fix onto an upstand.
