Monk Construction, Cementation Construction and Edmund Nuttall were the main contractors involved with the Trident related project at HM Naval Base Clyde which is located at Garelochhead in Scotland.

Colt Seefire and Multi-function natural smoke ventilators feature in many of the buildings along with Colt Triple bank Universal Louvre. The louvre systems were specified to provide air circulation and to prevent rain penetration into a number of critical plant room areas where safety and all-year round plant operation was essential in what is an extremely exposed location. In some cases the louvres were required to withstand blast criteria.
The triple bank Universal Louvre was selected only after Colt had undergone a series of exacting tests. These tests were instigated and witnessed by the project design team and independently witnessed by BSRIA (Building Services Research and Information Association) to prove claims about wind, rain entry and airflow.
The buildings at the southern end of the base were principally stores and submarine berths. The stores benefited from Colt Seefire natural smoke ventilators while the five submarine berths all incorporated Colt Triple bank Louvre to the transformer plant room areas. The northern end of the base consisted of a variety of stores, support buildings, a utility building, a new finger jetty, and is dominated by a ship-lift building at its centre.
