Shadovoltaic - PV Louvre - Photovoltaic Glass

Colt Shadovoltaic is a fixed or controllable external glazed solar shading system that may be installed either vertically or horizontally in front of the façade. Photovoltaic cells are integrated into the glass so as to generate electricity.
It may be combined with other Colt products such as rooflights and glazed facades.
A Shadovoltaic shading system can reduce solar heat gain, lower air conditioning running costs, and lessen glare whilst maximising the use of natural daylight.
There are two standard systems in the Shadovoltaic range. Bespoke designs are also available to suit the requirements of almost any project.
Shadovoltaic shading systems are operated by linear actuators that have the capability to operate complete facades. The glass louvres are available in various colours, surface finishes and coatings to meet specific design requirements.
Construction
The principal support and control components are manufactured from aluminium and stainless steel. Aluminium extrusions are to BS 1474 Grade 6063 T6.
The panels are heat soak tested toughened glass with the edges treated to remove stress. Glass thicknesses of between 8mm and 16mm max are available. The glass specification will be tailored to suit each application, taking full account the project 's aesthetic and performance requirements.
Photovoltaic cells may be integrated into the glass, either laminated onto the reverse side of the glass panels or between the two sheets of a safety glass.
Product Options
Two standard product systems are available:
System 1
Intended for wider spans, System 1 incorporates a central aluminium torsion tube along the length of the louvre, and is ideal for continuous facades, as well as a roof or atrium covering system.
System 2
Intended for large areas with electric actuators installed horizontally. Each actuator connects to a rotating bar and controls three banks of seven louvres. Louvres are mounted on two-piece aluminium cast pivots which are dog-legged to allow the louvres to overlap thus providing noise attenuation, wind protection, ventilation in warm weather and insulation for the building during winter.
Bespoke systems
Colt realise the importance of creativity and individuality when designing a building and offer many bespoke solar systems in such materials as perforated aluminium, wood, terracotta clay, and translucent acrylics.
