The Ministry for Renewables and Geology in Güstrow, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, wished to integrate the different technologies of solar shading and photovoltaic energy production, whilst making a statement about its green credentials.

Colt provided a Girasol thermohydraulic actuation system complete with Shadovoltaic photovoltaic and solar shading louvres.

On the south-west elevation two banks of these louvres have been installed in front of the facade. These are driven by the Girasol control system that ensures that they accurately track the sun, as well as reduce solar heat gain to the building.

Furthermore, on the Southeast elevation an array of photovoltaic panels were installed into the cladding.
