Energy efficient air conditioning and thermal energy storage

The company required more space for expansion. Colt were approached to design an energy efficient air conditioning system for a new building, and provided fifteen Colt-Caloris units in all, three units to a large open plan office area and the remainder within separate offices. Each room has total control of its temperature and the system is capable of heating one room whilst cooling others if required.
The units are linked together via a water loop pipework system and this was laid into the flooring on two levels, giving the client the additional advantage of being able to utilize the building's thermal mass for thermal energy storage.
The air conditioning installation to this building is being conducted in two phases and remainder will be completed at a later stage. A key advantage of the system is that further units can be added at any time without any reduction in efficiency.
An outdoor unit was also installed to maintain the optimum operating range for the system providing 80kW of cooling and 50kW of heating.
