DIDCOT POWER STATION, OXFORDSHIRE

Natural ventilation to boiler house

Colt supplied and installed 19 Labyrinth roof ventilators at Didcot Power Station for RWE Innogy plc. Each measured a huge 2.5m wide x 7.2m long, and was finished in a bamboo polyester powder finish.

Labyrinth is a compact, roof or wall mounted, natural louvred inlet and extract ventilator designed especially for industries which produce large quantities of heat and noise such as steel works, rolling mills, foundries and power stations. It has aerodynamically designed louvres to provide continuous weatherproof ventilation. Rainwater is collected within the ventilator and drained away via side channels.

Other features and benefits of Labyrinth ventilators include:
- It is light weight, which make it easy to install and which imposes small loads on the roof
- It has a low profile, and this lessens the impact of the wind on the roof
- It can accommodate large attenuation units leading to high levels of noise reduction
- It is suitable for either inlet or extraction
- It can accommodate shutters to control the level of ventilation.
