General description
Kameleon 5 is a natural casement ventilator, available in a wide range of sizes, flap options and control options. It may be installed into glazing systems or other types of walling systems, and can provide both day to day and smoke ventilation, into the vertical only. For applications where an inclined ventilator is required for roof installations, please refer to the Kameleon 4 ventilator. It may be either top or bottom hung.
Kameleon 5 has been tested to EN 12101-2 (2003), and is CE marked as a smoke and heat ventilator. Kameleon 5 is manufactured to the ISO 9001 quality standard.
Construction
All principal base components are manufactured from aluminium alloy type 6063 T6 and the frame is thermally broken.
Versions
- Double skin aluminium with infill material, or glass
- With narrow section frames, from 20 to 28mm thickness in glass or infill panels
- With wide section frames, from 8 to 58mm thickness in glass or infill panels
Controls
Electric: either 24v dc or 230v ac, power to open and power to close, locked in end positions.
Pneumatic: pressure to open and pressure to close, locked in end positions.
The controls mechanisms are concealed.
Dimensions
Please see the specification for frame and flap sizes. The maximum dimensions depend on the type of panel, the ventilator geometry and the angle of inclination. To calculate the overall ventilator sizes, add 60mm to the flap widths and/or heights (the width of the frame is 30mm all round). The ventilator opening angle is approx 50º.
Finishes
Kameleon is available mill finish, polyester powder coated to a RAL colour, or anodised.
Installation
The ventilator is designed for installation at an angle of 90° to the horizontal plane, into fully drained glazing systems or structural openings.
Performance
The performance of Kameleon varies depending on the exact configuration. In the best situation, Kameleon can be designed to provide a complete ventilator U value as good as 1.8 W/m²/K, an air permeability of 0.7 m³/ h/ m at 100 Pa (Class 4 to EN 12207), and weather resistance of class 9a (to EN 12208). Typically Kameleon has a coefficient value (Cv) of 0.60. For fire performance, see the specification.
