TELFORD COLLEGE, EDINBURGH

In July 2006 Telford  College moved from its previous three campuses to a custom-built £70 million property at the heart of Edinburgh's Waterfront Development. The new College is one of the largest buildings in the development, which is transforming the skyline and revitalising the culture and economy of North Edinburgh.

When Telford first opened in 1968, 7,300 students enrolled to study in a building that cost £1.5 million. From its beginning as a technical and engineering college, Telford moved into other vocational fields and expanded to become one of the largest Further Education colleges in Britain, with around 20,000 students.

OPV natural louvred Seefire ventilators have been installed into the sides of the five main atria roofs to the Teaching and South Blocks in the college. Each ventilator offers natural ventilation in the summer months with combined smoke control ventilation. A sophisticated Colt OPV 2000 Control System ensures that the ventilator louvres are controllable in response to the internal temperature in the various atria.
