FM1 Fire Curtain

Description

Electrically operated automatic fire curtain, which seals off an area which is on fire, thereby preventing fire from moving from one area to another.

The curtain falls under gravity in a controlled manner to a predetermined level in a fire situation or on loss of power.

Dimensions/ size range

  • Overall curtain lengths for single units are available from 1500mm to 5000 mm, and drops are available from 500mm to 5000 mm.
  • A requirement above these dimensions will be met by installing either double horizontal or double vertical units. Double vertical and double horizontal units are unlimited in length and drops are available from 500mm to 6000mm.

Generic types

  • Single units (type SI).
  • Double vertical (type DV) units, where continuous runs with overlapped fabric to form a continuous barrier are required.
  • Double horizontal (type DH) units, where there is a premium on space under the ceiling.

  • Industrial Bottom Bar
  • Comfort Bottom Bar

Fabric options

  • E 60 heat stabilised fabric
  • E 120 heat stabilised fabric with a stainless steel inlay

Controls options

  • Simple control box with switches and an indication lamp
  • Smoke detector connected directly to this control box
  • A local control box to be connected to the central fire detection system with a voltage free contact.
  • Battery back-up to retain the curtain in its retracted position for a set period if there is mains failure.

Performance / Compliance

The following standards apply to this product:

  • EN 1634-1 "Testing of non-loadbearing construction elements"
  • EN 13501-2 "Fire classification of construction products and building elements"

The Colt FM1 Fire Curtain has been tested to EN 1634-1 and is classified E60-C or E120-C in accordance with EN 13501-2:2007, thereby achieving an integrity rating for either 60 or 120 minutes.

Both E 60 and E 120 fabrics achieve the building classification A2 S1 d0 to EN13501-2: 2007 ("Fire classification of construction products and building elements").
