General Description

Liberator is a powered ventilator designed for the extraction of smoke and hot gases in the event of a fire. It is suited to most industrial and commercial buildings and can provide both day to day and smoke ventilation.

Liberator is manufactured to the ISO 9000 quality standard.

Wall Mounted Liberator

Versions

  • TL: Roof mounted, with vertical discharge. This has four non-return shutters and an aerodynamic cowl.
  • WL: Wall mounted, with horizontal discharge. Roof mounted with vertical discharge is also possible. The shutter arrangement is either an insulated flap (for roof and wall) or a louvred ventilator (only for wall).
  • 630mm and 800mm nominal fan sizes.

Shutters

The shutter version with a flap as termination (WL / FLAP) is opened by a gas spring and is pulled closed by a cable that is operated by a rotary electric motor. In the event of fire, this flap is locked in the open position.

The shutter version with a louvred ventilator as termination (WL / FCO) is closed and held closed by a rotary electric motor. In the event of fire, the louvres open under force of the spring, and are held open. This version is suitable only for installation into the wall.

Both shutter versions have fusible links to open the shutter at a pre-defined temperature.

Finishes

Liberator is available mill finish, polyester powder coated to a RAL colour, or a special finish such as PVF2.

Bases and installation

WL / FLAP can be orientated at any angle from the horizontal to the vertical. For all Liberators, their wide range of base types and the fact that they are lightweight means that they can be installed into nearly any type of roof or wall structure.

Certification

Liberator has been successfully tested in accordance with EN 12101-3: 2002, Smoke and Heat Control Systems - Specification for powered smoke and heat exhaust ventilators. Complete CE Certificate of Conformity are available for TL (0786-CPD-50002) and WL (0786-CPD-50003).

Liberator meets the following time/ temperature classifications of EN 12101-3: F200 (200°C for 120 minutes), F300 (300°C for 60 minutes) and F400 (400°C for 120 minutes).

Performance

Liberator produces airflows of between 2.6 m³/s (9,500 m³/h) and 6.1 m³/s (22,000 m³/h). Its noise output ranges from 60 to 72 dB(A) at 3m.
However many projects require extract systems that are outside of the standard Liberator range, either in terms of the extract rate required, or the pressure drop of the system through which the fan is extracting. Please see mechanical extract systems.
