Colt Shadometal is a fixed or controllable external aluminium solar shading system that may be installed either vertically or horizontally in front of the façade. Larger size fins can be made that exceed 1m wide by 4m high.
It may be combined with other Colt products such as rooflights and glazed facades.
Colt Shadometal external solar shading system
A Shadometal shading system can reduce solar heat gain, lower air conditioning running costs, and lessen glare whilst maximising the use of natural daylight.
Using a combination of torsion tube and support arms or aluminium skeletal frame, a single sided sheet of perforate aluminium is added to form a light weight fin. (double sided perforate can create a Moiré pattern which could cause motion sickness).

Like all of the Colt moving systems, Shadometal is operated by linear actuators that can be housed within a simple box mullion meaning they are not only discreet, but quick and easy to install. The aluminium and glass louvers are available in various colours, surface finishes and coatings to meet specific design requirements.
Construction
The principal support and control components are manufactured from aluminium and stainless steel. Aluminium extrusions are to BS 1474 Grade 6063 T6.
The aluminium sheet can be perforated in a large number of patterns and will be tailored to suit each application, taking full account the project 's aesthetic and performance requirements.
