Shadotex comprises a fabric stretched between two sides of a louvre support frame. The fabric is manufactured with a weave to prevent solar glare and solar heat gain. It can also create attractive diffused light within the building.
The specifier will define the type, shading coefficient, light transmission and colour of the fabric material.
Many options - Shadotex is well suited to many different applications, from façades to glazed roofs. Such a louvre system can be positioned either horizontally or vertically.
Lightweight and allowing big spans - Shadotex can be given additional strength by coating the fabric in a special resin which dries hard. This type of product is extremely lightweight which allows large spans to be constructed without the need for additional supporting framework. The louvre spans depends on structural considerations and the kind of louvre blade selected. The support system is designed to compensate for thermal expansion.
Flexible controls - Shadotex shading systems are operated by linear actuators that have the capability to operate complete facades. A series of louvres are attached to a system of levers and push rods which link them to a control system. The louvres may be fixed at any angle and can rotate under motorised control within a range of up to 90⁰.
Robust design - All components including the supporting construction are manufactured from extruded aluminium alloy with stainless steel fixings.
Potential to reduce installation time – Shadotex can be provided in modular pre-assembled form.
Control routines - Colt ICS 4-Link or Soltronic are the standard controls for Shadotex. These provide accurate control of the louvre blades, continually calculating the position of the sun and together with internal temperature and lighting sensors controlling the position of the louvres. Remote operation is also available via an internal modem interface.
On dull days, light sensors can operate to fully open the louvres to allow the occupants full vision to the outside at all times.
An additional benefit of such movable systems is that when they are closed, they can provide additional security and can help reduce winter heat loss.
