Buro Happold, the M&E Consultant and Reiach and Hall Architects approached Colt to help with the smoke control system design on this stylish project because of our unrivalled expertise in the smoke control field. Becoming involved very early on in the project meant we were able to provide a system that met the design team’s expectations and the client’s budget.
Since this was a major office refurbishment project on an existing building, there was a design challenge which meant we couldn’t change the building geometry to incorporate the smoke control systems needed. Therefore, our teams had to develop a mechanical extract system that would operate as required within the space available.
Within the 10 George Street offices, Colt successfully supplied smoke extract systems through creatively incorporating 1x 7 level Coltshaft system, 2x Natural Stairwell Ventilators (AXS140 and Firelight). We also provided a car park smoke clearance system comprised of 3x Cyclone fans, a main extract fan and CO detectors.
