The Colt Service Training Centre: For Colt engineers, the training never stops

At Colt, we demand only the highest standards from our maintenance engineers. That’s why, in 2022, we set up the Colt Service Training Centre. This new, state of the art facility enables us to provide the very extensive and detailed training that our engineers require and that we were unable to find from external training providers.

Bespoke UK-based training

The new centre, located at our Havant-based production facility enables us to offer bespoke smoke control maintenance training on working examples of the types of systems that our engineers will encounter in the real world. This includes Colt-produced systems, but also those of other manufacturers.

Professional technical and regulatory training

Our highly experienced technical managers deliver ongoing, smoke control-specific training to our engineers not in only system maintenance, but also regulatory updates and standards. This allows our engineers to provide the very best level of competent, knowledgeable service to our thousands of customers.

Our technical managers are continually monitoring the skill levels of our service engineers through a series of assessments in order to allocate training where its most needed; only once an engineer has been trained up to our high standards will they be allocated sites to attend.

An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.

At Colt, we recognise the importance of proper smoke control maintenance and believe that the training of our engineers is never complete – we are always looking to ensure that they are the very best at what they do. With a Colt engineer, you can rest assured that your systems are in safe hands.

Are your smoke control systems properly installed and maintained?

A smoke test is no substitute for a proper service and competency is crucial when it comes to smoke control maintenance. If you are concerned that your service provider is not doing enough to ensure the safety of your building, learn more about what a thorough smoke control maintenance visit should include.

Your legal obligations

It is a requirement of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, that life safety equipment such a smoke control be “maintained by a competent person who is familiar with the fire engineering performance specifications of that specific system." Colt engineers are just such people.
